Parkland College - Technology Orientation for New Employees
Welcome to Parkland College! Please use this guide to get you started with creating a password and accessing Parkland systems including email. At the end of this article, you will see a link for "Parkland Technology Information / FAQ (for Employees)" which will give you an overview on things like how to request IT help, where to store Parkland-related files, software that is available to you for free on your personal devices, and a host of other resources.
This is the password that you will use to sign on to the workstation in your office and it will also allow you to access most Parkland systems including the My.Parkland portal, email, Cobra Learning, Wi-Fi, Colleague, and more. In order to enroll in ParklandOne, you will need to have a mobile phone that accepts text messages. If you do not have a mobile phone, please contact the Tech Service Desk (their information is at the end of this article).

2. Access the various Parkland systems.
The first thing that you will want to check out is the My.Parkland website at https://my.parkland.edu. My.Parkland is the portal from which you can access all Parkland-related materials, directories, information, and systems. Once you are signed in, you can access the following (and a whole lot more):
Employee Email: Outlook on the web - For training, please see Office 365 (Web) - Training - (Outlook Mail / Calendar / People / Tasks)
Cobra Learning: Parkland's online learning management system (Desire to Learn - D2L) provides students and faculty access to course-related information
WebAdvisor: Provides access to leave balances, W2s, insurance coverage information, and also allows approved staff to input requisitions, access departmental budget information and approve time sheets for part-time employees. Part-time employees use WebAdvisor to access the Web Time Entry system. WebAdvisor also allows faculty to input grades and view class schedules and rosters.3. Access the Outlook email client via the desktop in your Parkland office (optional).
The Outlook client is more full-featured than the web-based version and it is installed on all Parkland office machines that are not shared by multiple people (it is not installed in P/T faculty offices, for example). The first time you access it on a new machine, you will need to set up your Outlook client profile.
