Parkland College - Minimum Laptop Requirements for BYOD Courses

Parkland sections that end in a "T" for Technology indicates that it is a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) course and that students will need to bring their own laptop to class. This laptop needs to meet the following minimum requirements.

Hardware Requirements:

Must be a Mac OS X or Windows laptop (or tablet) that is Wi-Fi enabled and includes a keyboard. Smartphones and non-Windows tablets, including Chromebooks, are not acceptable. It also must meet the system requirements listed in the link below in order to install the full client version of the Microsoft Office 365 suite which is made available to all Parkland students for free. Install instructions are listed in the "Software Requirements" section.

Software Requirements:

Laptop must have Microsoft Office installed on it.  The Office 365 Suite is made available to all Parkland students for free via download. See instructions below.

The laptop must also have antivirus software running on it. For the various options, please see Antivirus Software for Personal Devices .
