ParklandOne - How to Use a Biometric Authenticator

This article covers how to use your biometric authenticator after setting it up.

NOTEAs it is not a fully supported authentication process, we do not recommend setting biometric as your sole authentication method.

If you run into issues logging in and authenticating with only a biometric authenticator, please reach out to the Tech Service Desk to have your authentication factor reset. Certain applications do not allow login when the only authenticator on file is biometric. This includes Microsoft Teams, Outlook, and other Microsoft 365 applications that utilize ParklandOne.

Biometric currently works only on Windows 11 machines and MacOS devices but does not work on Windows 10 machines. Kiosk computers located at the Tech Service Desk in A184 and those near Admissions, Advising and Counseling, and Financial Aid also do not accept biometric authenticators.

Logging In with a Biometric Authenticator

Windows Sign in with your passkey

1. When reaching the multifactor authentication screen while using the biometric authenticator, you will select, iPhone, iPad, or Android device

2. From there you will receive a QR code to scan with your mobile device, such as this:

QR code pop-up box

3. Scan the QR code with your Camera app. From there, you will need to tap on the phone to sign in with passkey (on iPhone/iPad or Android). If you have touch or face ID set up on your phone, it will link to that and allow for you to log in. The ParklandOne screen will look like this during this process:

4. Once you have completed the prompts on your phone, you will be redirected to the webpage you were signing into.
