Accessing the Parkland Linux Server

The new Linux server at Parkland is called Remy and it replaces Shaula.

Accessing the Linux Server

Typical ways to access Linux:

1. PuTTY – Is a command line interface used for SSH connections to the Linux Server, Remy. CS labs should already have PuTTY installed. Otherwise, download and install the software from https://www.putty.org/.

2. WinSCP – Is a free graphical interface used for file transfer. CS labs should already have WinSCP installed. Otherwise, download and install the software from https://winscp.net/eng/download.php.

3. Mac Terminal – Is the built-in Mac command line interface.

If this is your first time to login to the Parkland Linux server, you must reset your password before setting up any connections. To do so you may use PuTTY, WinSCP or Mac Terminal. Note: Username and password information is sent to students at the beginning of the semester via an email from "root".  The initial password is NOT your ParklandOne password.  If you are unable to locate the email containing your credentials, please call the Tech Service Desk at 217/353-3333.
