N: Drive FAQ

What is the N: drive, and how can it help me?

The N: drive is a network drive that is available to Parkland employees by request.  The intended use is for storing shared work-related files. This is different than the H: drive which is used for storing personal work-related files that only you have access to. If your department determines that you are in need of N: drive access, they will submit a Service Request to Campus Technologies specifying the name/s of the folder/s you need access to.

What are the advantages of storing my files on the N: drive?

The N: drive is backed up on a regular basis.  The backup system provides a safeguard against accidental loss of data and an added level of protection again viruses and ransomware which threaten to infect users computers, destroying their files or making them inaccessible. It also allows for anyone who has access to that specific folder on N: to see the files stored there.
