Cobra Learning: Creating Microsoft Teams in Cobra

Instructors have the ability to create a Microsoft Team from within their Cobra Learning course in order to have synchronous meetings and share files.  The benefit to this integration is that you can create your own Team at the time you need it rather than putting in a request; and your students are automatically loaded and granted access to the Team site.  No more manually adding students.

NOTE: the Team site will be removed/deleted after the Cobra course closes, so please be sure to retrieve any shared materials before the end of the course.  Likewise, these Team sites CANNOT be reused; you will need to create a new Team for each course/section each semester.

Here is how you can create a Team for your course:

  1. Go to the course that you want to add Tearns.
  2. Go to Course Admin
  3. Then select Homepages. Go to course > Course Admin > Homepages
  4. You can either:
    1. add the Microsoft Teams widget to your custom homepage; or
    2. select the present Default Homepage with Teams Widget from the dropdown menu
  5. Then click Apply to activate the homepage.  Return to your course homepage and locate the widget. Select Cobra Learning Default Homepage with Teams Widget and click Apply
  6. Click the button to Create Course Team.  After the Course Team is created, your widget will reload with a confirmation that your site is created.  Click on the Create Course Team button in the Teams widget on the course homepage
  7. Click the Open Your Team button to go into Microsoft Teams.

    NOTE: this widget (sans the Edit Settings button) will appear for your students as well and that is how they can also access the course site.

    Once the Team is created, click the Open Your Team button to go to the course Teams page
  8. You will receive an activity notification in Teams once the site has been created (as noted here in the activity feed).  
  9. You can start a chat/discussion on the Posts tab and/or upload content under the Files tab.  You can also schedule your meetings from here as well.Notification of team creation through the Teams application
  10. Click the Cobra Learning tab to access your course from within the Teams environment as well.  You can click on the Cobra Learning tab to access your course from within the Teams application
