Media Library

Once you have logged into the YuJa site, you will be on your Media Library page.

Yuja Media Library homepage

Every homepage has a "Default Collection" folder for the storage of videos; however, if you had videos migrated from Knowmia, you may also have other folders in your library which will contain your previous video content.

NOTE: if you have previous Knowmia videos, they will NOT contain your quiz data nor any prior analytics.

Below are some of the basic functions within YuJa. (Advanced features will be covered in another KB article).

Organize your videos

To create an organized structure of your videos, you can create folders in your library. Click the New Folder at the top of the library page, enter a name for the folder, and click Save. You can also create new folders within folders for a hierarchical structure as well.

Upload content

You can upload content to YuJa for storing and sharing as well. Click the Upload link on the library page, and you'll be given options for uploading content, such as video files, audio files, documents, links to YouTube, Vimeo or the web, as well as VR images and videos. These items can be tagged and published as well as captioned from this menu as well.

A note about adding links to YouTube videos:

If you want the analytics to work on YouTube videos, then you need to follow this process after clicking Add Media > Link > YouTube:

Paste in your YouTube link and select Import from YouTube -- NOT Embed YouTube link.  Importing will add the YouTube "link" to your library and allow analytics to be gathered on the video.  Embedding does not allow analytics to work.

Perform bulk actions

If you click on the More Actions link, then select all; you'll be given a menu of bulk actions that you can perform in your library. You can bulk delete all of the selected items, move them, download them, enact security, select or deselect all.

NOTE: any time that you select the delete option, you will be prompted with a confirmation screen in which you must type the word "confirm" before submitting to ensure that you don't delete something inadvertently.

Create recordings

To create a video recording, there are two options for doing so. You can access the recorders from the YuJa website or you can select to record from within Cobra.

Recording from YuJa website

From the Media Library in the YuJa website, click the Create Recording link at the top of the page. Then you can select to record from your computer using the downloaded application.

Note that you have the link to prompt you to download and install the app from the screen. If you select to record using the app, your application screen will open giving you options for setting up your camera, microphone, screen, and profile as well as the ability to do a live recording. This option will count down from three to start the recording.

If you choose to use the Browser Capture Studio (web-based recorder), it will open a new web browser with the recording tools. With the web-based tool, you have fewer options. You are able to set your recording area (screen, camera or both), your audio and your camera. This option starts recording immediately with no countdown.

Either recording option gives you the ability to discard the recording or upload to your YuJa media library.

Recording from Cobra Learning

To start a recording from within Cobra, go to your course and to the content page. Click Existing Activities, then scroll to YuJa Media Chooser and select that option. This will open a new window where you can see your media library; however, you will click the Record Content link in the navigation bar.

Note that you have the icon on the left to prompt you to download and install the app. If you select to record from your computer, your application screen will open giving you options for setting up your camera, microphone, screen, and profile as well as the ability to do a live recording. NOTE: if you select the YuJa link from the main Cobra homepage navigation bar, it will open the web page and not the recording option through Cobra.

Edit your videos

Editing a YuJa video can be pretty simple and very similar to previous video editing tools. Your video is brought up in the screen with various tools for cutting portions out, editing the captions to ensure accuracy, as well as some advanced tools that allows the insertion of images, video content, background, watermark, and text overlay. Once you have completed your edits, you can save your video to your library.

Share your videos

There are a couple of ways to share your videos - you can share the video with individual people or you can share the link to the video. We'll explain both below.

Share resource

When you hover over a video, you have a "share" option, which opens a new screen where you can select the individual from a list of available YuJa colleagues with whom to share the video. You can share the video with full access (deleting as well), edit access, or read only. The video stays in your library, but they will see the video in their library under the "shared with me" folder. Any changes they make will be made to the original video in your library.

Yuja share video option

Share link

If you click the "more" option on the video, you'll be given a menu of actions, and one of them is "Links." In this option, you can share the direct link to the video and/or copy the embed code to share it. You can also set the parameters for the viewers from this screen. They will only be able to view the video by clicking the shared link.

Change Owner vs. Sharing

Sometimes instructors (video owners) want the ability to share video content with colleagues without having to duplicate the video. YuJa offers some options for sharing but it's important to understand the options and how they work.

When you hover over a video in your media library and select the More option, you'll have an "Owner" option under the General tab, in which you can Change Owner. After you click the Changer owner option, you can search for another YuJa user to give ownership of the video. Note that when you do that, it removes it from your library and gives it to the new user. You will no longer have access to this video.

When you hover over a video in your media library and select the Share option, you can select an individual from the list of users with whom to share the video. The video remains in your library, but also shows in their "shared with me" library. You can choose the access they have, from full access (ability to delete), edit access, or read only. Any editing/changes they make will be made to the original video in your library as well.

Resource sharing options

Through the "More" and Links options, you can share a link to the video only or embed it for sharing as well, with full control of the video remaining with your as the owner.
