Cobra Learning - Using a Rubric

Once you have completed your rubric, you can associate it (attach) it to a discussion topic or dropbox assignment and use it to assess students.

Attach a rubric to a discussion topic

To attach a rubric to a discussion topic, you must first create a rubric and set its Status to Published.

1.    On the course home page, click Discussions.

2.    Click Edit Topic from the context menu of the discussion topic you want to attach a rubric to.

3.    In the Assessments tab, click Add Rubric.

4.    Select the check box for the rubric you want to attach to the discussion topic.

5.    Click Add Selected.

6.    Click Save and Close.

Attach a rubric to a dropbox

To attach a rubric to an assignment, you must first create a rubric and set its Status to Published.

1.    On the course home page, click Assignments.

2.    Click Edit Assignment from the context menu of the assignment you want to attach a rubric to.

3.    In the Properties tab, click Add Rubric.

4.    Select the check box for the rubric you want to attach to the assignment.

5.    Click Add Selected.

6.  Click Save and Close.

Grading with a rubric

When you are assessing a student in a discussion, the rubric will automatically populate and you can see the students posts as well as use the rubric to assign a grade.


When you are evaluating a dropbox assignment, you can select the rubric to open it in a new window and evaluate the student's submission.
