Antivirus Software for Personal DevicesCheck with your Internet Service Provider (AT&T, Comcast, Mediacom, etc.). Most provide a free, full-featured (McAfee, Norton or similar) antivirus solution to their customers for both Windows and Mac devices. Alternatively, Microsoft provides a free built-in and/or downloadable solution for Windows devices (see below for details). Apple does not provide an antivirus solution for Macs like
Microsoft does. You should check with your ISP to download and install
the solution they provide to their customers.
Please Note: Other antivirus solutions are available
for download but please investigate those claiming to be free. Many are simply
trial versions to get you started. A paid subscription is required for
updates and continued functionality once the trial period expires.
- Windows 7 and Vista devices use Microsoft Security Essentials which is available for download from Microsoft here.
