ParklandOne - Installing the Credential Provider on your Windows Workstation
This will allow Windows users to access Password Station from a new link inserted on the workstation logon screen, entitled "I forgot my password...". The same link will also appear when unlocking the workstation. The link is to the Avatier secure browser and one.parkalnd.edu. For Windows machines, users will need to reboot their workstation, at which time they will be prompted to log in. Another reboot will be required to complete the implementation in order for the changes to fully take effect.
There are two Group Policy Objects that need to apply. However before these policies apply, the login screen should look similar to the following picture.
The first group policy is the one that actually installs the Avatier Credential Provider. You will know that the installation is occurring if you see the Please Wait message pictured below before the login screen is displayed. This message may be displayed for up to minute before the login screen replaces it.
After the installation has completed, the login screen will not have changed. This is because, even though the new credential provider has been installed, it was not available yet when the login screen was displayed. However, on the next reboot, the login screen will have the Switch User button added to it, indicating that a second credential provider is available to use, like this picture.
The second group policy was being applied during that last startup, but again, it’s settings weren’t quite available before the login screen was displayed. So one more restart is required, after which the login screen should look like this. Notice that the Switch User button has been removed. This is because the old credential provider has been removed, and only the new Avatier Credential Provider is available now.
Also notice that the new Avatier Credential Provider offers a new link titled “I forgot my password…” When you click this link, the Avatier Secure Browser is opened and takes you to one.parkland.edu so you can enroll (if you are a first time user), change your password, reset your password, or modify your previous enrollment. When the Avatier Secure Browser is started it will open in full screen mode, but will likely be blank.
It is also worthwhile to note that the secure browser, while it opens quickly, can be slow to display the ParklandOne website, often taking up to 30 seconds to display.
After both of these policies have applied correctly, you should also notice a new desktop shortcut titled ParklandOne Password Station. This shortcut is a link to https://one.parkland.edu
. It will open this address in the default web browser.
