How To Take a Screenshot or Screen Recording - iPad

You can take pictures (called screenshots) or recordings of the screen on your iPad using button combinations. The steps below will guide you through the process of taking a screenshot or screen recording based on which iPad you are using. Listed below are also instructions on how to save screenshots or screen recordings to OneDrive. Please follow the instructions listed below:

Take a screenshot:

1. Do one of the following:

  • On an iPad with a Home button: Simultaneously press and then release the top button and the Home button.
  • On other iPad models: Simultaneously press and then release the top button (on the top-right edge of the iPad) and either volume button.

2. Tap the screenshot in the lower-left corner, then tap Done.

3. Choose one of the following options:

  • Save to Photos
  • Save to Files
  • Save to Quick Note
  • Copy and Delete
  • Delete Screenshot

Note: If saved, the screenshot will be available in the app corresponding to your selected option. For example, the Photos app, Files app, or Notes app.


Save Screenshot to OneDrive:

If you would like to save your screenshot to OneDrive, follow the instructions below.

Note: OneDrive must be installed prior to following the steps below.

1. After taking a screenshot, tap the screenshot in the lower-left corner, then tap the Share button at the top-right corner of the screen.

2. Select OneDrive from the list of available applications.

3. Confirm your account and select the folder you would like to save the screenshot to.

4. Tap Upload to OneDrive.


Take a Screen Recording:

You can create a screen recording and capture sound on your iPad.

Add Screen Recording to Control Center:

1. Open Control Center by swiping down from the top-right corner of your screen.

2. Tap + at the top left of Control Center to begin editing the controls.

3. Tap Add a Control at the bottom of Control Center to open the controls gallery.

4. Tap Screen Recording to add it to the group, then close Control Center by swiping up from the bottom center of the screen.

Use Screen Recording:

5. Open Control Center, tap then wait for the three-second countdown.

6. To stop recording, open Control Center, tap Screen Recording Icon or the red status bar at the top of the screen, then tap Stop.

Note: You can view the screen recording in the Photos App.


Save Screen Recording to OneDrive:

If you would like to save your Screen Recording to OneDrive, follow the instructions below.

Note: OneDrive must be installed prior to following the steps below.

1. After taking a Screen Recording, open the Photos App.

2. Select the Screen Recording to be uploaded, then tap the Share button at the bottom-left corner of the screen.

Share Button

3. Select OneDrive from the list of available applications.

4. Confirm your account and select the folder you would like to save the screenshot to.

5. Tap Upload to OneDrive.
