How to Find macOS Version and Hardware Information

The steps below will help you find important system information about your Mac with macOS Ventura. This includes the macOS version, device model, processor or chip, graphics, and memory. This article will also help you determine which processor your Mac is equipped with. This could be either Apple Silicon or Intel.

About This Mac:

1. Click the Apple Logo at the top-left corner of the screen and select About This Mac.

2. This will display information about your Mac.

Apple Silicon or Intel-Based Mac?

1. Click the Apple Logo at the top-left corner of the screen and select About This Mac.

2. From here, you can see which Processor your Mac is equipped with.

3. Apple Silicon Macs will display "Chip: Apple" (M1, M1 Pro, M2...).

The Mac in the example below is equipped with an Apple Silicon M1 Pro Chip.

4. Intel-based Macs will display "Processor:" followed by the processor with the word "Intel" in the name.

The Mac in the example below is equipped with an Intel Core i5 Processor.

Intel Based.

You can also look for the Graphics field as Apple Silicon Macs will not have one.
