Cobra Learning - TechSmith Fuse / Knowmia


TechSmith Fuse is an application that you can download to your phone and use it to create video and upload to your TechSmith Knowmia library.

Downloading the Fuse App

Go to the app store and search for "TechSmith Fuse" - you'll need to make sure that you include "TechSmith" in the search.  Click Get to download the app to your mobile device.


Once you have it downloaded, click on the icon to start the program.

Using the Fuse App

When you first activate the app, you'll be taken through the introduction process.  You'll need to allow your camera and microphone to have access to the app.

After you have completed the introduction process, click Done to start the program.

You are now ready to use the TechSmith Fuse app.  You'll have basic camera options at the top of the screen; at the bottom, you can click the video or photo icons to start taking video or pictures.  But for this step, click the Library icon.

In the library, you can activate your camera icon to start taking images/video, but first click on the Settings icon.

Under settings, you'll see other TechSmith products that you can link your Fuse app to, but for now click Knowmia.

You'll be prompted to sign in to your TechSmith Knowmia account, for which you'll use your ParklandOne credentials.

You'll be prompted with a capture screen and instructions to log into your Knowmia account on another device.  

So, go to a computer and log into using your Parkland credentials.  Then click Create and Connect Mobile Device.

Once the QR code come up on the screen, use your mobile device to scan the code.  

This will connect the Fuse app to your Knowmia account and library.

Uploading from Fuse to Knowmia Library

Once you have Fuse connected to your Knowmia account, you can take video and/or images with your mobile device and store them in your Fuse library.

Select Library to see the images and/or videos that you have stored.  You'll need to allow Fuse to have access to your photo library on your mobile device.

When you view your library, you can select one or more images or videos to share.  Click on the single image or click on select and choose multiple images.  You can then markup, crop or rotate the images and then click Share.  From the Share menu, select TechSmith Knowmia.

You may need to sign in the first time, but then it will load your selection.  You can change the name and add a description, if you choose.  When you're ready, click Send.

Now, when you go to TechSmith Knowmia on your computer, you should see your Fuse upload in your library.  You can then share your Knowmia file or submit as a course assignment (see Cobra Learning - Adding a TechSmith Knowmia Video to a Cobra Assignment (for Students) for more details).
