Cobra Learning - Extra Credit / Bonus
Grades: Extra Credit / Bonus
Setting up extra credit (bonus) in your Cobra Learning course gradebook can be a 3-step process:
Step One: Grade Item
You can choose to either make a grade item bonus (meaning the entire grade item is extra credit) or you can simply allow a regular grade item to exceed the maximum points, thereby awarding extra credit points to an assignment.
- Go to Grades > Manage Grades
- Create or Edit a Grade Item
- On the Properties tab, under Grading, check the box for Bonus (if the entire assignment is extra credit) OR check the box for Can Exceed (if only part of the assignment is extra credit).
- Click Save and Close.
Step Two: Grade Category
Once you have set a grade item to be extra credit, this will allow the items in the category to total up to 100% of the category possible points. If you want the category to exceed 100% of the possible points, then do the following:
- Go to Grades > Manage Grades
- Click the category title to enter edit mode.
- On the Properties tab, under Grading, check the box that says "Can Exceed."
- Click Save and Close.
Step Three: Final Calculated Grade
Again, once you have set the grade item and the category to "can exceed", this will allow the grade to be exceeded in those two items, but only up to the maximum possible course grade total. If you want the final calculated grade to exceed 100% of the possible grade, then do the following:
- Go to Grades > Manage Grades
- Scroll down to the Final Calculated (or adjusted) grade option. Select the arrow next to the title and select Edit Grade Item.
- On the properties tab, under Grading, check the box that says "Can Exceed."
- Click Save and Close.
