Office 386 (Outlook 2013 / 2016 / 2019 for Win) - Open or Save an Email Attachment
Email messages that include attachments are identified by a paper clip icon in the message list.
Outlook accepts a wide variety of different file types, but blocks potentially unsafe attachments (including .bat, .exe, .vbs, and .js files) that can contain viruses. Even with Outlook attachment protection, be careful in opening any attachment, especially if it’s from someone that you don’t know or trust. When in doubt, confirm the authenticity of the attachment with the sender. If you suspect that a message is a phishing attempt, please notify Campus Technologies via email@example.com.
Open an attachment:
Double-click on the attachment icon to open it. If you merely want to preview it, click it once instead of twice. File preview allows you to view attachments in Outlook without opening the attachments in a separate application.
Save an attachment:
1. Click the attachment in the Reading Pane or the open message.
2. On the Attachments tab, in the Actions group, click Save As. You can also right-click the attachment, and then click Save As. To save multiple attachments at once, select Save All Attachments. By default, all of your attachments will be saved in your Documents folder but you can choose a different location each time you save attachments.
You can also save an attachment locally by dragging and dropping the attachment from your email message to your desktop.
